I just want to thank the staff of KUTV for your thorough coverage of this event!! I currently live in Elko, Nevada but was raised in Wells and have a lot friends and family still there. Wells is where I consider "home" to be.
Yesterday morning I was at work, at a local gold mine, when the earthquake hit, we are located 50 miles NW of Elko, near Carlin, approx. 100 miles from Wells. Had it not been for your quick and detailed reports regarding this tradegdy I would not have known the safety of my friends and family as soon as I did. Ironically the woman named "Pat" that your station interviewed from the grocery store is my mother-in-law! We were very concerned as you can imagine.
And as you can imagine between the chaos and phone lines being "busy", I couldn't reach anyone immediately on the phone. My first thought after attempting phone calls was to log onto the internet to find coverage; my mother, (D. Weems), recommended your site as she had been watching your station all morning. Oddly enough our local news station had only a one liner posted on their site until this morning and other major news sites only had minimal coverage of this historical event. Your station not only provided pictures and videos, but also on-site coverage almost immediately.
So again KUTV, I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work!!!!!
