We live in Pilot Valley Nevada-it's a small Mtn. community between Wells and Wendover, about 25 miles from the origination of the quake. About 7:20am I was getting ready for work when I felt the beginnig of the earthquake at first when I heared the rummbling noise and slight shaking I thought it was a Jet flying low over my house-they do that alot out here for training missions-but as it got stronger I new that was not what it was. I grabbed my daughter, and held her as our house shook-I thought every picture in my house was going to fall off the walls, I have a log bed with a canopy and it was knocking against the wall-you could just watch everything shake like crazy. It was nerve racking and I was so glad when it stopped. It may have only lasted 45 seconds but it was long enough that you asked yourself-what should I do and when will it stop??? It felt Just like a giant had grabbed my house and started shaking it! It didn't do too much damage we do have a little crack in our ceiling and one of the neighbors sheds apparently callapsed. But when it happens you are really just in a state of shock and surprise that it is hard to react and think clearly-hopefully this makes people learn more about the plan of actions we need to take when there is an earthquake-like stand in a door way-or under a table or desk. -RaeAnn
