National Nurses Week—May 6th through May 12th—is a time to showcase nursing and share heartwarming stories about caring nurses, committed to the health and well being of their patients.
The University of Utah College of Nursing Alumni Association will again host the 14th annual recognition event entitled Honors for Nursing. This community sponsored event will be held on May 6, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:30pm at the Little America Hotel. This evening is a wonderful regional event that provides recognition and appreciation for individuals within the nursing profession and those who support nursing. Nurses are invited by their peers, colleagues, patients, and families or any member of the community.
Each year the “Dare to Care” award is presented in recognition of an individual or organization that has made significant community contributions that reflect and/or promote ideals of the nursing profession. This year we are honoring Pamela Atkinson who has been a very strong advocate for the homeless in Utah through her work with the 4th Street Clinic and the Pamela Atkinson Homeless Trust Fund. Senator Karen Hale will be the emcee for the event.
Anyone wanting to recognize a nurse can call 581-5109 or complete a nomination form at http://www.nurs.utah.edu/development/honors.htm. Deadline for nominations is April 11th.
